What are access control systems?

An Access control system control's entry into or within office's by controlling doors. These doors are opened usually through the use of: Entering a code into a keypad, Presenting a key fob or token, Swiping a card or Biometric Access Control systems

Where are access control systems used?
Anywhere which would benefit from controlling access into or around their business premises. Examples include but are not limited to
Offices, Leisure and golf clubs, Schools/Colleges/Universities, Warehouses, Flats, Factories, Self storage facilities, Retail outlets and Banking premise's.
How to Choose the right Access Control System.
The choice includes: proximity, magnetic stripe, hands free, biometric, smart card, key fob, token, card or keypad.
Consider whether existing cards and tokens need to be integrated into a new system. Is high, medium or low security required at each entry door?

Does the environment necessitate vandal resistant equipment?

Do you require an audit trail?
Depending on the type of system you have installed/opted for Audit reporting can be produced using Windows based programs which detail the movements of individuals or specific events providing an audit trail with clocking in and clocking out times ideal for business.

Do you require remote access?

With internet connected access control system's it is now possible to not only lock-out proximity tokens but to open the doors over the internet

At Barrs we design the system around you and tailor the system to meet your need's, we believe that an Access Control System should be easy to use. The software should be immediately familiar to any user of Windows based programs. It has been designed so that all functions can be completed (adding or voiding cards, controlling access by time etc) simply by exploring the software. Standard PC's and software tools: Access database working with Windows 98, 2000, NT, vista, xp, 2007. Optional desktop reader allows fast and error free entry of card numbers and quick searches.

If Proximity key fobs or magnetic cards are lost a member of staff has left?
Previously, the loss of a standard key could create quite a risk to security and rectifying the situation could be costly.
With access control systems, if you lose a key fob, token or card, the specific token, card or fob can be deleted from the system creating no compromise to security.

You can also change the codes quickly and easily on a digital keypad if a member of staff has left.

Even specific parts of the building can be controlled, limiting who can enter at different times of the day or night.

We can upgrade your existing electric release lock on your main entrance door to a more secure type of lock that cannot be slipped open with a piece of plastic. One type of lock that we fit to most main entrance doors is the Cisa electric lock, it is auto deadlatching, can't be slipped with plastic and coupled with the Mul-T-Lock or Evva EPS rim cylinder's gives you the added assurance of a security key.
